Chemical / Liquid Process Filters

Porous metal filters are widely used in chemical and liquid process applications where high temperatures and/or pressures, chemical compatibility issues, or the need to reduce/eliminate waste associated with disposal filters requires their use. Uniform, precision porosity, controlled pore size and pore distribution create a filtration media with distinct filtration characteristics.

A comprehensive selection of medias are available for chemical/liquid process applications, including:


  • Poroplate® sintered wire cloth laminates. Poroplate® laminates are multilayer composites of selected layers of wire cloth, permanently bonded together through a proprietary diffusion bonding process. The material that results has far greater strength, abrasion resistance and filtration characteristics than can be obtained from a single layer of fine mesh. Poroplate® metal filters are easily freed of particulate by using backwash/pack-pulse cleaning methods. Contaminants may also be removed with water, steam, air, solvents, caustic or acid washing, or with ultrasonic cleaning. Completely enclosed backwashing filter elements reduce operator exposure to hazardous chemicals. Poroplate® media is typically fabricated into filter cylinders, baskets, cones, and custom shapes/sizes.
    Available in micron ratings from 2- 2,000µ nominal in liquid service, in 304 and 316ss, and a variety of nickel based higher alloys.

  • Porofelt® non-woven filter media consists of multiple layers of precision drawn fibers which are arranged in a progressively smaller pore sequence, then sintered in panel form. The result is a permanently bonded, highly permeable media structure with very low pressure drop and unmatched dirt holding capacity. Porofelt® media is available in a pleated element or cylindrical shapes, in standard diameters of 2.38” (60.6mm) and 2.5” (63.5mm) and incremental lengths of 10” (254mm), and a variety of custom configurations and sizes.
    Available in micron ratings from 3µ-75µ absolute in liquid service, in 316ss, and a variety of nickel based higher alloys.

  • Poromesh® pleated wire cloth filter elements. These elements feature individual layers of soft-sintered wire cloth that are pleated to provide up to 5 times more area than a comparably sized filter cylinder. Soft-sintering of this media permanently bonds every contact point within each layer, thereby locking in the pore size and structure and ensuring consistent filtration levels over the life of the filter. Available in standard diameters of 2.38” (60.6mm) and 2.5” (63.5mm) and incremental lengths of 10” (254mm), as well as a near infinite range of custom sizes and end fitting configurations.
